BIOS

Peter ‘PT’ Townend is a surfing legend with too many achievements and accolades to list in one place. PT was the first World Professional Surfing Champion in 1976, a stunt double in the Warner Brothers cult classic “Big Wednesday”. In the late Seventies, Townend moved to California and ventured into sports promotion, organizing events, coaching and acting as the Executive Director of the National Scholastic Surfing association (NSSA). He oversaw ad sales and marketing for Surfing, Bodyboarding and Volleyball magazines and was Marketing Director/Global Brand Director for Rusty/Rusty Girl apparel through the 80s and 90s and commentated pro surfing on Fox and ESPN television. He oversaw editorial direction and marketing of Surfing and Bodyboarding Magazines and online properties, Surfing Special Projects and the Vans SMAS (Surfing Magazine Airshow Series). With Primedia’s acquisition of the Surfer Group (EMAP) PT became Director of Primedia’s Action Sports Group. Eventually PT formed the ActivEmpire(ATE), a surf and skate brand consultancy company. In 2014 PT was Event Director for the Red Bull Qiantang Surfing Shootout in Hangzhou, China and appointed Coach of the Surfing China National Team. He has served as President of SIMA, remains on its Senior Advisory Board, and has been inducted into the Surfing Walk of Fame, Surfers’ Hall of Fame, and the Australian Surfing Hall of Fame. In 2013 he was given the “Lifetime Achievement Award” at the SIMA Waterman’s Ball. He lives in Huntington Beach, California and surfs regularly.

Glenn Brumage has over 30 years experience in building business in the Action Sports industry and takes a futurists view of the evolving business landscape. Beginning in the industry with Hobie Sports in the 1970s Glenn started his own sales agency in the space in the late 1980s, and became VP of sales and marketing at Innes Clothing in 2006. He worked with Tum Yeto skate brand incubator in the early 2000 became CEO of Performance Sk8 in 2013. Glenn became Managing Director, Business Development for Wabsono International, which promotes actions sports in China and launches related products into the Chinese market. In 2012 he became the Ambassador of Action Sports to the Chinese government through the China People to People Exchange. Glenn is on the Board of Directors of the International Association of Skateboad Companies, Senior Consulting Analyst for Future shock Consulting, Director of Business Development at FourLane LLC, and Board Member of the Surfing Heritage and Culture Center.
